Theo Fox: Draft: Final Preview
A final preview to the NHL Draft with today possibly having fireworks for the Blackhawks as general manager Kyle Davidson still seeks to get back into the 1st round.
Plus, updates on Alex DeBrincat, Seth Jones, Duncan Keith, and goalie options as well as yet another IceHogs player signing. |

Am about as interested in the Schadenfreude of Minny probably crapping themselves with their star player who dumbly went back to Russia after they lost in the playoffs.
It's safe to say that guy is not in their space program, as apparently he's no rocket scientist. |

Happy draft day. I am not going to speculate on what will happen today. I just hope there are positive moves. |

Good write up Theo. Regarding what you wrote about Keith...
Despite claiming he would like to play into his 40's and being one of the most in-shape players in the NHL as a total gym rat and fitness freak, Duncan Keith is reportedly mulling over the decision to retire. Remember, if that happens, the Blackhawks would incur a recapture penalty of $7.5M across two years.
I read where Ken Holland has asked Keith for his answer by this Saturday. |

Plenty of room since Cat, Strome and Kubalik will all be gone |

You’re right not to speculate as no one, even the “insiders” seem to have a clue about what will happen. And like you whatever moves KD makes let’s hope they are good smart moves. And I’m hoping the Hawks are able to make a move to get into the first round of this year’s draft. I think picking up a decent prospect is vital to rebuilding |

I would think Davidson knows and is prepared to make the extension that Debrincat’s camp wants if he does not reach a trade agreement. If cat is not traded this off-season or this season, then he has to be resigned.
Then all us fans can complain about his new contract. Or KD will make the trade and we’ll still complain because the lofty trade expectations likely weren’t met.
Hopefully KD can get us in the top 5 of this draft or acquire future firsts for Debrincat. Prospects yes are a gamble % wise, but these top picks hold a ton of value in the eyes of GMs in the flat cap world. But it would be very surprising to not see one GM pony up for a young player of this quality not often available.
Going to have the popcorn ready tonight, also will be ready for a dud though in regards to trade activity. Crossing fingers we get some fireworks. |

Happy Draft days, fellas!
I am mulling over whether I give Lines.com my immediate attention, by adding the picks/trades over the next two days or just doing it on Saturday or in small snippets so I can come here and hang out and yada vada about the hawk additions.
I mean if you are a fan of a team, you probably are going to NHL.com ot TSN.ca or your local newspaper site to find results, rights?
I figure then only traffic the site draws are if some one wants info on their teams top pick(s).
I am more curious if they can get something for Kubalik, Strome and others, and this stare down DeBrincat trade probably hasn't reach final determinations as KD waits for a draft day offer that he feels is worthy.
I am wondering of the worthiness of DeBrincat knowing he was placed on the market.
Does it affect his future as a hawk or is he gonna ramp up his wants just to counter the squirming and worrying he was put through with a crazy UFA want, seeing how KD likes being on the other side of the gun... |

No need to give up assets for a goalie. Just sign Holtby for 2 years. Let him play 50 games and let the scrubs audition in the other 32 games. |

Guessing KD has a deal in place already, as he said it would clearing up in the next 24-48 hours.
FA doesn't start for a while. Might not be giving up assets, may be getting some for taking on a contract and rescuing someone from Cap Hell. |

in reagrd to Strome and KUB and ARB status. figuring they both get about $4 mil on a 1 year deal. if you had 6 extra mil in cap space. you have to replace them with $1mil players. taking back someone like matt murray and his 6.25 salary might bring a bigger return then trading there rights. |

After calamity level management of the last 5 years I am just hoping for a semblance of direction and competence. |

Wondering if KD is feeling any pressure to trade Cat now? All the reports now are as if it's guaranteed he will not be a Blackhawk anymore. Young gm might of created a situation where the only answer now is to trade him. We'll see how confident he is. |

Idk...so far he hasn't struck me as someone who is going to knuckle from any outside or perceived pressure. We'll likely have our answer today but if Dinky goes, I'm thinking Davidson got the deal he wanted or better. |

Why would he have any pressure? He isn't a UFA after next season, the Hawks are still in control. If KD doesn't get the deal he wants, he plays left wing with Kane and whoever. |

When Darth's plane lands, he can post it. KD will have likely made several trades by then though...because Darth said so. |

I doubt it. He's said multiple times that they are listening on everyone, and will not force a trade just to make one. He can stay consistent with that statement without issue.
I don't think he's created any situation at all. Reporters are going to say a bunch of poop. That doesn't necessarily tie KD to anything at all. |
